So, you think your job is stressful? It may very well be. And, ongoing stress is a contributing factor to what causes heart disease. As your Denver cardiologist, we encourage you to treat and reduce stress.

Each year Career Cast puts out a list of most stressful and least stressful jobs. And, each year it is sort of fun looking at the list. This year, most jobs that actually put your life at risk, claimed the top spots. As expected, the top spots on the stress list include enlisted military, firefighters and police officers. But, professions like event coordinator and public relations executive also made the list.

Here is the list of the most stressful jobs:

  4. Police Officer
  5. Event Coordinator
  6. Public Relations Executive
  7. Senior Corporate Executive
  8. Broadcaster
  9. Newspaper Reporter
  10. Taxi Driver

If you find yourself in anyone of these jobs, you now have every right to say it is stressful and CareerCast’s scientific analysis will verify it for you. But, if you are highly stressed, here are some professions you may want to switch to. Here are the professions that CareerCast determined to be the least stressful:

  1. Information Security Analyst
  2. Diagnostic Medical Sonographer
  3. Tenured University Professor
  4. Hair Stylist
  5. Medical Records Technician
  6. Medical Laboratory Technician
  7. Jeweler
  8. Audiologist
  9. Dietitian
  10. Librarian

Of course, stress is relative to the individual. Each and every person takes on stress differently and the impact of stress on health can vary. Plus, there can be other factors in play that create additional stress beyond just choice of profession. But, if you do have chronic high stress that impacts your health, you may very well want to consider a change in profession.
