Celebrating Wellness: Learn Ways to Slow The Aging Process
While getting older is inevitable, we can have a great deal of control on how getting older affects our mind and body. There is a significant amount of research that points to the impact diet, sleep, exercise and other lifestyle choices have on how we age.
Diet: Look to increase the amount of fruits and vegetables you eat at each meal. Substituting fish for animal protean is another smart change that will improve your diet.
Sleep: Lack of proper sleep can actually lead to obesity. Columbia researchers found that the participants in a study who didn’t get an average of 7-9 hours of sleep each night were up to 73% more likely to have issues with obesity.
Exercise: We all know we need to exercise more. The great news is just going for regular 30 minute walks can have a positive impact on your health. Make plans with a co-worker to walk around the building at lunch. Take your spouse for a stroll when you get home from work. Look for creative ways to add some activity to your daily routine.
