How We Are Making a Difference,

Atrial Fibrillation Seminar – You're Invited!

When it comes to heart health, there are so many things to consider. It’s important to lead a heart-healthy lifestyle in as many ways as you can, but there’s more to it than that. Most people know about the big two cardiac risks – heart attack and stroke – but there are a number of other heart conditions that are more common, and while less deadly, equally important for us to be aware of as we go about our daily lives. Perhaps one of the most common and pervasive is Atrial Fibrillation.

What is Atrial Fibrillation

Atrial Fibrillation, or AFib, is the most common type of irregular heartbeat. Misfired electrical impulses cause the atria to quiver, or fibrillate, resulting in an irregular heartbeat. There are several different types of AFib, from paroxysmal to permanent. Some people may exhibit no symptoms, making the condition only available after a physical examination. However, many people experience one or more symptoms, so knowing what to look for is very important.

Symptoms of AFib

There are several different symptoms that may indicate AFib, including:

If you experience chest pain or pressure, please know that you are dealing with an emergency and seek medical attention immediately. If you suffer from AFib, you are facing an increased risk of stroke even if you never experience any symptoms. At South Denver Cardiology, we like to make sure our patients and the community have all the information they need to live smart, simple. heart-healthy lives. That’s why we’re hosting a seminar on Atrial Fibrillation on October 19.
