The Anticoagulation Clinic at the South Denver Heart Center manages and doses Warfarin/Coumadin for patients based on their blood work. All of the nurses in the clinic have extensive training related to Warfarin/Coumadin therapy. Anyone who helps during your visit is qualified to answer any questions you may have.
The process for guests at the Anticoagulation Clinic is easy and non-invasive. When you visit the clinic, here are the main steps you can expect during your appointment:
Warfarin/Coumadin therapy is extremely sensitive to diet, exercise, and medication changes so adhering to a strict monitoring schedule is vital to maintain the effectiveness individual treatment plans and for the safety of patients.
At the South Denver Heart Center, completing the finger stick on site and getting your results right away lets you speak with a physician or a nurse if results are out of normal ranges before your appointment ends.
If you are a new Warfarin/Coumadin patient, South Denver Cardiology Associates offers a free Anticoagulation Basic class every three months. This class is recommended for all patients of SDCA patients taking Warfarin/Coumadin and anyone else who would like to learn more about warfarin with an emphasis on safety. The class will also educate patients to make good decisions about what can affect this medication and how to monitor it appropriately.
